Support Local Food, Strengthen Local Families
We know you care about growing Cape Breton; and we do too! The Cape Breton Food Hub is a non-profit organization that makes it easy to get local food from producers to consumers. We provide an on-line ordering system and the distribution to link 50 food producers with households and restaurants across the island. Our membership includes over 800 consumers, restaurants and food producers in Cape Breton. By partnering with the Food Hub you will be joining us in growing a more sustainable Cape Breton!

Share the Harvest, Helping Families Access Fresh Local Food
Share the Harvest is a flagship food access initiative developed by the Cape Breton Food Hub in 2019. The program enables community members facing food insecurity to access healthy, locally grown food- dignified, fresh, and free of stigma.
Through donations, grants, and partnerships, we provide weekly credits to families screened into the program through an application process, which entitle them to purchase food sourced directly from Cape Breton producers. The program not only nourishes vulnerable individuals and families but also invests in local agriculture and keeps money circulating in our island economy. Since its inception in 2019, hundreds of families, including many children and senior citizens, have been able to access the program, supporting themselves as well as the producers they are purchasing from.
